Season 2020 – 2021 was special but also amazing. Making plans was almost impossible. We had to be creative all the time. Last minute changes, finding COVID centra in every ski resort, strict border controls, closed hotels etc… etc…
But all our athletes tested negative during the season because we followed protocols and restrictions very strict.
Only I got a Bulgarian virus at the junior world champs and had to stay home for a few weeks… Disappointed I could not be with my team at the end of the season but happy to see all racers scored very good FIS points. Not lucky days or races but well-deserved points. This quote says it all: “hard work pays off”. Summer training indoor/glacier and pre-season training were the basis of a top ski year.
We had a slow and difficult start. Many DNF first races.. but it all made sense. New project, new trainers, new rules. Everyone had to find their way through the many changes. The success of the shift to good results? Team spirit. This group was more than friendship. It was helping each other in difficult times, cheer at races, no jealousy, believe (in yourself and coach), no (almost) complains, hard work….. So many factors what makes a strong team.
Lowlanders is not a one-man project. Also, thanks to the other coaches. They did a great job, followed the vision, continued with the strategy drawn-up from the beginning.
Without a steering committee behind the team, this project never succeeded. So big thanks to the members. Thanks Henrik, our project coordinator, for all the work behind the scenes.
Thanks to the parents who believed in the team and your endless believe in your kids. Without proper backup and support from you, your kids would never be able to follow their dreams. Our talks were always constructive.
Thanks for our supporters, followers on FB and Instagram.
More coming up, some new items are in the pipeline, so keep us following.
We are ready for next season, direction is set.
